Its primary objective is to evaluate the understanding, implementation capacity, time management, and communication skills essential for professionals intending to register, work, or study in an English-speaking environment. In order to fulfill the requirements of Recognizing Organizations, candidates must achieve a minimum score in each of the assessed sub-tests, namely Writing and Speaking.

Purpose

The GPPAE Test Regulations are applicable to all modes of test delivery, including:

These regulations are crafted with the following aims:

  1. To guarantee fair and equitable treatment of GPPAE candidates.
  2. To establish a secure testing environment.
  3. To ensure that all staff adheres to high-quality performance standards.

Note that not all GPPAE delivery dates and testing modes are available in every country. Before booking GPPAE, ensure that you verify the test mode, profession, country, and venue availability on the GPPAE website.

*GPPAE does not offer testing or receive payments (funds) from candidates residing in Sanctioned Countries. Candidates may be required to provide proof of residency in the country where they are sitting for the test.

1.2 Registration and Booking

Before making an individual or third-party booking for GPPAE, you must initiate the registration process by creating an account. For details regarding third-party bookings, please consult Section 4.4 Booking GPPAE.

1.3 Registering for GPPAE

When registering for GPPAE, you are required to use a current personal email, avoiding the use of educational or workplace email addresses. Note: If you are applying for ECFMG certification, it is essential to use the same email address for GPPAE as used for ECFMG, whether it be a personal or alternative email address.

As part of the registration process, you must carefully read and accept the GPPAE Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, and GPPAE Collection Notice. Your GPPAE registration will only be considered complete after clicking 'I Agree.' Access to these Test Regulations is available through the GPPAE Terms and Conditions.

1.4 Booking GPPAE

The booking fees for GPPAE are required to be paid at the time of booking.

All bookings are contingent upon availability.

GPPAE Test Regulations strictly prohibit having more than one booking per test administration.

It is not permissible to hold multiple bookings across delivery modes within the same test administration for GPPAE.

Candidates may not qualify for a full refund if they hold multiple bookings within the same test administration across different delivery modes.

GPPAE Test Venue

When taking the GPPAE on Paper at a test venue for the first time (initial GPPAE), it is obligatory to complete all four GPPAE sub-tests to receive your GPPAE results.

Following the completion of your initial GPPAE, you have the flexibility to book one or more additional GPPAE sub-tests. Nonetheless, it is recommended to confirm with the Recognising Organisation you are applying to whether they accept scores from individual sub-tests.

1.5 GPPAE Special Arrangements/Testing Accommodation Rules

Special Arrangements/Testing Accommodations within the GPPAE framework allow candidates to request reasonable adjustments necessary for completing the GPPAE. These accommodations are accessible to GPPAE candidates meeting specific eligibility criteria and providing proper documentation for their requests.

GPPAE is committed to taking all reasonable steps, as far as reasonably practicable, to provide candidates with fair and equal opportunities through reasonable Special Arrangements/Testing

Accommodations. However, accommodations are deemed unreasonable if they impact the measurement of skills intended to be assessed by GPPAE, alter the predictive validity of test scores compared with standard conditions, or compromise exam security. GPPAE retains the right to deny accommodations when there is a good faith basis for concluding that any of these situations apply.

Note: Due to the nature of GPPAE, certain types of arrangements may not be available. GPPAE cannot guarantee that all arrangements can be accommodated by the preferred test date, venue, or delivery method.

Special Arrangements/Testing Accommodations on GPPAE must be reasonable, addressing current disabilities, impairments, or medical conditions significantly interfering with the ability to take the test. Clear evidence is required to demonstrate that a specific type of Special Arrangements/Testing Accommodation is necessary to address a current, significant functional limitation likely to interfere with the ability to take GPPAE under standard conditions. For example, a request for extended time should be supported by evidence of a significant difficulty working effectively under timed conditions compared to most people.

GPPAE will make reasonable efforts to fulfill testing Special Arrangements/Testing Accommodation requirements upon receipt of supporting documentation within the required timeframe. However, GPPAE does not guarantee that the Special Arrangement(s)/Testing Accommodation(s) requirements can be fulfilled.

Note: Special Arrangement(s)/Testing Accommodations do not incur an additional fee. The submission of a Special Arrangement(s)/Testing Accommodations Request does not guarantee approval; decisions are made on a case-by-case basis following a thorough review of the submitted documentation.

Ensure that you carefully read and adhere to the Special Arrangement(s)/Testing Accommodation(s) Rules. Failure to comply with these rules may impact your eligibility to receive a Special Arrangement/Testing Accommodation on your designated test day.

Apply Early: If you anticipate the need for a Special Arrangement or Testing Accommodation for GPPAE sub-tests, we strongly advise initiating the application process well in advance. It is crucial to submit your Accommodations request promptly to facilitate the necessary arrangements. Applications will not be processed after the cut-off period for your scheduled GPPAE test administration. Refer to the Rules regarding applying for testing accommodations provided below.

GPPAE – Speaking

The Speaking sub-test is conducted face to face in the same venue as the Writing sub-test.

It is imperative to arrive promptly for the Speaking sub-test.

A Venue Staff member will accompany you to your designated testing room.

Before the test commences, an Interlocutor will verify your identification.

For the duration of the Speaking sub-test, all personal belongings must be left in the cloakroom.

Health and Comfort Guidelines for GPPAE

Bathroom Breaks and Leaving the Test Room:

Writing sub-tests are conducted consecutively without scheduled breaks, including bathroom breaks, between these tests. To maintain focus and minimize disruptions for other candidates, strict rules govern when and how candidates are allowed to leave the test room.

During GPPAE on Paper at a test venue, bathroom breaks are permitted during the Writing tests, except for the first and last 10 minutes of each test. To do so, raise your hand and wait to be accompanied by an invigilator. It's important to note that no additional time will be provided if a candidate chooses to go to the bathroom, and only one candidate is allowed to visit the bathroom at a time.

If you anticipate needing more frequent bathroom breaks (e.g., due to pregnancy), you have the option to request Testing Accommodation when booking your test.

Test Day Conduct and Behavior for GPPAE

Candidates are expected to maintain a professional, civil, and respectful demeanor while present at the GPPAE test venue.

All test sessions may be subject to monitoring through video and audio recording, original walk- throughs, and observation through the designated window.

The test administrator is empowered to dismiss any candidate from the test session for any violation of the regulations, including the display of abusive behavior towards test administrators or fellow candidates.

Should a candidate be found in breach of any regulations during the test, the test administrator is obligated to notify Prometric and GPPAE. Prometric, either independently or in collaboration with GPPAE, will then take any necessary measures to address the conduct, including but not limited to invalidation of the test score and/or pursuing civil or criminal charges.

Confidentiality of GPPAE Test Content

The GPPAETM and all test content are the exclusive property of GPPAE. Any form of communication, publication, reproduction, or transmission of any part of the test, whether verbal, electronic, or written, for any purpose is strictly prohibited. Engaging in such activities may lead to the immediate pursuit of civil and/or criminal charges against you, and anyone involved in directing or conspiring with you. GPPAE reserves the right to inform Recognising Organisations, educational institutions, healthcare employers, bodies, and councils as deemed appropriate.

Prohibited Items and Candidate Conduct in the GPPAE Test Venue

Unauthorised Personal Items: Candidates are not permitted to bring unauthorised personal items into the GPPAE test room. Such items encompass, but are not confined to: outerwear, hats, food, drinks, purses, briefcases, notebooks, watches, cell phones, electronic devices, or wearable technology.

Any discovered written notes or electronic devices will be confiscated by the GPPAE test administrator. Once the test begins, candidates are barred from accessing their notes, including during restroom breaks.

Tissues: Only tissues supplied by the GPPAE center are allowed in the test room. All materials provided by the GPPAE test administrator must be returned upon the conclusion of testing.

Clothing: Light clothing items, such as sweaters, suit jackets, scarves, etc., removed for comfort must be hung on the chair, not placed on laps or the workstation desktop. Outerwear, including heavy coats, parkas, raincoats, etc., is not permitted in the GPPAE test room.

Communication: Engaging in conversations with other candidates, referring to their screens, testing materials/papers, or written notes is strictly prohibited in the GPPAE test room.

Candidates are expected to comply with these guidelines to ensure a fair and secure testing environment for the GPPAE.
